Enjoying the little things is so, so important. When you are fully committed to a particular goal, falling into in a mindset that is emotionally reliant on attaining expectations is seemingly inevitable and, unfortunately, very counterproductive. Pardon the cliché, but you really do have to take time to stop and smell the roses on the way, so that your path to your goal is equally rewarding. Set your perspective so that you fall in love with the simple and minute aspects of life. For example, listening to a great new song, connecting with a friend/family member or even a stranger, reading a good book, going on a walk and just being able to breathe, relax, and appreciate the astounding gift of simply existing…finding joy and satisfaction within seeming insignificance is what creates a true, deep, genuine happiness. We should never put our happiness on hold for someone or something. Goals are good, great really, but not to the extent that your happiness is reliant upon reaching them. Being a naturally passionate person, I really, really need to remind myself of that at times. Perhaps we all do. You, alone, are enough.
